The episode begins with the police team sharing a meal, before Meng Shao Fei hauls off to confront Tang Yi at another cafe. We get a flashback to Tang Guodong teaching Tang Yi to cook, and it becomes clear that Tang Yi wants revenge on Chen Wenhao for Tang Guodong's death. Then the world's least subtle stake out leads to Meng Shao Fei getting all up in Tang Yi's face AGAIN and trying to provoke him to reveal more about Wang Kunchen's death and Chen Wenhao's return. They're suddenly attacked by mysterious assailants and end up fighting back to back before being kidnapped, then escape into the woods while handcuffed together.
Meanwhile, Jack hauls Zhao Zi off to try and shake him down for information about Tang Yi's whereabouts. Tang Yi and Meng Shao Fei hole up in an abandoned house for the night. Tang Yi freaks out about Meng Shao Fei touching his lighter and in flashback we see Tang Guodong giving it to him as Tang Yi promises to take on leadership of the mob after him. Meng Shao Fei, who was stabbed in the arm the previous day, wakes up feverish and the ep winds up with him tripping as they make their way down the mountain and falling into Tang Yi's arms.

MSF & TY's bickering in front of their kidnappers is hilarious, but their silent communication abilities are impressive - they'd probably already pass the broccoli test.
Zhao Zi walking on his hands like a total goof, and Jack's smirking reaction to it, is SO CUTE. And I love how much of a force of positivity Zhao Zi is - in the cafe scene he's really doing his best to make sure the other cops support MSF.
A++++ to the script writer for the enforced snuggling while MSF & TY are hiding behind a very small rock.

As Canadian Shacks go, the one they end up in is somewhat deficient. It barely even has walls!
MSF is SUCH a cinnamon roll. He's still basically meant to be your nemesis...

Date: 11 Jan 2020 19:27 (UTC)That's a good question. One of the things the show is not good at addressing is the morality of Tang Yi and Jack's actions in killing Wang Kun Chen. It doesn't ever show MSF's realization that it was TY who ordered it and Jack who carried it out. Everybody kind of sweeps it under the rug. I'd like to see some fanwork deal with this, but even I wouldn't even know for sure what directions that would end up going...
I liked that we saw a bit of competent MSF in the tea house deducing what went on with the murder and why. Of course, he then goes completely off piste on the stakeout and is TERRIBLE.
I'd like to think that MSF is one of those people who either rolls high or terribly, and there's just no in-between with him.
is it just me who sees some fine shoulders and a slim waist?
I'm sure you're not the only one. I am only attracted to Andy Bian, but there are plenty of Jake Hsu fans out there.
TY wears silly, slippy town shoes and he looks a bit strained/out of place compared to MSF when running around on the mountain. He sort of flails around a bit weirdly to me.
I remember watching the behind the scenes video clips, and it was actually really slippery. I think that Chris Wu is actually doing his best not to slip in those shoes, which is perhaps in character for Tang Yi. Mafia boss going down in the mud is probably something he wants to avoid. XD

Date: 12 Jan 2020 23:29 (UTC)Oh, I’m completely on board the Andy Bian train. I mentioned this simply because I DON’T find Jake Hsu gorgeous (although he’s clearly lovely and not not good looking) but in this one shot this episode I got a sudden moment of “huh, who knew?!” about him.
That seems very likely. It does look like tricky terrain even not seeing behind the scenes, and leather shoes aren’t grippy enough. I also imagine that the costume department (and hair and make-up) probably didn’t want to have to keep cleaning Chris up if he’d fallen!!

All of the guys in Trapped are surprisingly fit, even Kenny who is like...the second stackiest guy of the four, though he doesn't look it. There were a lot of jokes in the BTS about how they were all working out during the downtime between takes because they knew they had to take their clothes off. XD
