Hi.. I'm new to the fandom/late to the party and I'm gonna be checking out this cool community and commenting as soon as I can. The positive thing about being late is that you have a lot of content to see.
I've written this little thing and I thought I could post it here too. I think people on AO3 didn't like it because stream of consciousness is not for everybody, so I'm not surprised and I totally get it; and well, it's not what I usually write but I've written some internal monologues for Black Sails, Teen Wolf, Eyewitness and The Red Line, so it's something that I enjoy writing from time to time. I'd like to write something with dialogue but I have a problem with the fact that they speak in Mandarin and I'm used to writing characters in the language they speak on the show, so we'll see.

Summary: My interpretation of Meng Shao Fei’s thoughts right after his conversation with Zou Hongye in episode ⅞ when she wants him to leave the house the next day.
God, you’re not a violent guy but right now you wish you could kill Zou Hongye.
Just… just everything that came out of her mouth… fucking unbelievable.
She’s hated you from day one.
She wants you out of this house.
She wants you gone—out of Tang Yi’s life forever.
For sure you want to hate her. That’s what she deserves. You’re not sure you do but if she becomes one more person trying to ruin Li Lizhen’s reputation, she will get her wish—You’ll despise her.
Right now you don’t know what to think. You’re upset.
You’re fucking angry.
But why? What’s the real reason?
Are you angry at Zou Hongye because of her accusations or is it because of Jack’s words?
Fucking Jack.
You care more about what my boss thinks.
Don’t forget why you came here.
If you let your emotions take over,
Nothing good will come out of it.
And that’s the thing, why did you come here in the first place?
You told yourself you came here to protect him while also controlling his every move.
You did it for the case.
In your mind, everything is about the case.
You’re working.
You want to solve the case that hasn’t left your thoughts in four years and this is what you have to do.
This is the place to be and you were very proud of yourself for convincing your boss that this was the right move.
After all, somebody has already tried to kill the guy twice, and if he dies, you’ll most probably never get justice done.
You close your eyes and you sigh.
You want to fucking scream.
Plus, your back aches. Nothing serious. Nothing you’re worried about.
But it’s a reminder of what happened.
What really hurts is that he fucking pushed you.
Your half friend.
He pushed you to defend her from you.
He pushed you and didn’t listen to you.
And it reminded you that you’re a guest.
A cop—Not half a friend.
And maybe that’s the truth.
Maybe you were kidding yourself.
Maybe you had lied to himself and Jack is right.
Maybe solving the case wasn’t your only interest.
Maybe your feelings were clouding your judgment.
Feelings you were too blind to see it.
In his defense, you admit that he’s apologized on her behalf. Not that it makes you forget what happened, but at least he’s tried to fix it… and other guys —other mob bosses— wouldn’t care how you felt.
But that’s one thing about him—He never ceases to surprise you.
And once again, that’s exactly what he does.
He grabs your wrists, takes you to your bedroom, and throws you unceremoniously on the bed.
Then proceeds to straddle you, uncovers your back, and carefully massages your back like he’s done it a thousand times.
The same hands that pushed you to the ground turn into the most gentle touch that your skin has ever received.
Smooth and careful.
Yet, determined and effective.
And you’re in shock.
You’re still wondering what’s going on.
Maybe you shouldn’t have caved in, but then again, this is Tang Yi—This is a guy who always gets what he wants whenever he wants and this is actually his house… resisting didn’t feel like an option.
Plus, the look of confidence and firmness in his eyes… you can’t say no to that look. You tried briefly and you lost.
And you have to admit it. You could stay there forever. With your eyes closed… just feeling. Expert fingers fixing you—Caressing you.
It felt so right that it brings everything back.
Every feeling you had been harboring comes to the surface all at once.
You realize that Jack was right.
You’re afraid of what he might think of you.
His hands on Andy were torturing you.
His lips on Andy’s were killing you.
He being in danger terrifies you.
He’s always been a mystery to you.
He’s always seemed so serious—so focused.
Then he helps you.
He protects you.
He thanks you.
He compliments your ridiculous pink t-shirt.
He asks for your silly charm.
He accepts you at his home.
He apologizes.
He massages your back like it’s the most important thing he’s done all day.
And then, of course, there’s that thing—Those brief moments you’ve seen his smile.
It was like the sun after a heavy rain.
Beautiful.
It warms your heart in a way that makes you smile right away.
And once you’ve seen it, you want to see it again—And again.
Of course, you kick him out.
You tell him it’s late—That it’s enough.
You get rid of him.
He’s gone in a few seconds.
And it’s almost hard to breathe.
But you do it. You breathe and you think.
You ask yourself how stupid you are.
Because you are stupid if you are here for the wrong reasons.
And you are most definitely stupid for not seeing what was right in front of you.
You are attracted to him… and what is worse, you fucking care about him.
You certainly do.
What are you gonna do about it?
You have no fucking clue.

Date: 15 Jan 2021 09:28 (UTC)A cop—Not half a friend.Ah this part,MSF thinking of how he got careless and started thinking of them as something more than a cop and a criminal, and how sand/upset/angry he is-so well written!
The way this ended with him realising his feelings-awww,I kinda want to hug him. :D

Date: 19 Jan 2021 22:59 (UTC)I just find super weird that a year a half after the show ended, there is no fic to read unless you care about Jack/Zhao Zi which I don't... I mean, I like them in the series but I would not write or read about them... so yeah, this is super depressing. I also find weird that there is no RPS (Chris/Jake) about them after all the videos I've seen with them.
And you haven't talked about the actors' relationship on this community either and what the hell happened with Chris and Jake?... because I'm watching the livestreams and reading all the comments and I could be more surprised... so yeah, I think this is something that people would at least wonder...
Also, they use LiKe all the time (the director, actors...) but they don't have a name for T x S? They had no shipping name at all while it aired or later?
If you have a tumble we could talk about it on the chat there if you want... it's easier. I'm otg2012 over there... what you prefer... thanks :)

Date: 20 Jan 2021 09:16 (UTC)But now that you mention it,I can see all the things that I see in other Dramas like The Untamed or Guardian or I think even Nirvana in Fire(which I haven't watched yet) missing here!
I so didn't realise that there were more works for Jack/Zhao Zi as compared to MSF/Tang Yi since I'm more into Jack/Zhao Zi and actively looked for their content!
From my side,it's like this:I really liked HIStory3 trapped but I'm the kind of person who focuses on one fandom at a time and I was heavily into Guardian at the time so I never spent as much time on HIStory3. :(
I also find weird that there is no RPS (Chris/Jake) about them after all the videos I've seen with them. Hmmm,I only ever read and enjoyed RPS for Guardian, otherwise it's not something I like so I'm not sure how big RPS communities are in C-Dramas. But you are intriguing me with all this talk about the videos of the actors together and all! XD
They had no shipping name at all while it aired or later? I'm not caught up with any news of it....so,I have no idea actually if they might have in other circles or among Chinese fans maybe?

Date: 15 Jan 2021 12:22 (UTC)I really liked how they showed all the emotions he went through in those scenes and I love how they build their relationship through the episodes and how natural and right it feels.. so yeah, it's fun for me to imagine how they see things sometimes.
At the same time, the first time I saw the throwing on the bed scene I was very surprised but a) I like how this show surprises you so much and b) I love the contrast between the scene where he pushes him and is all upset and the bed one where once again, you can see that he is worried about SF and regrets what he did before... plus, I think it's obvious that he wants to get his hands on him and this is the perfect excuse.
The way this ended with him realising his feelings-awww,I kinda want to hug him.
Yeah, I love how they did that... I'm glad you think I got it right... it is a relief for sure. When you see that almost nobody liked it on AO3, you don't know what the hell to think.

Date: 25 Jan 2021 22:50 (UTC)yes, I have participated in the stackson (Teen Wolf) week several years on Tumblr and I do participate in a weekly Teen Wolf prompt community and usually write something for my series but right now I'm taking a break so that helped to attempt this challenge. This is probably the hardest thing I've ever written because not speaking English really makes it very hard for me... not to mention that Tang Yi is very difficult to write. If you ever read it, I'd like it if you left me your honest opinion on AO3. It's here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/28965567 (At least 3 people liked which is a huge improvement)
Thank you :)

Date: 28 Jan 2021 02:10 (UTC)But anyway, there are several comments about the last episode where people say that they liked the kissing for once because before it was terrible... and that maybe the actors couldn't really kiss, etc... and in another post about the birthday kiss that it was weird and that they didn't feel comfortable kissing, etc... so a few things:
This is my first "BL" or asian show... I DO NOT consider it BL and never will... I just think it's a great series with gay characters... BUT yes, when I watched their first kissing scenes I wondered: is this an asian thing? And yeah, I am still watching new asian shows but they either don't kiss or it is weird... although they were not from Taiwan... but then you get to other scenes and the birthday kiss after the weird cake stuff which now I think was supposed to be a playful pre-kiss (which must appeal to asian audiences), the real kiss is actually different... and heartwarming and cool, at least nothing bad with it for me.
Then in the last scene, it's a million times better... and I love it... just everything about it... and well, now that I'm a freaking expert after having seen and read a million videos and I know everything that happened between these two and how it ended... obviously we know they were super comfortable kissing and touching each other and that's also why they have such unique chemistry.
Anyway, my conclusion is that the director of this series is super good and super controlling and they do what she tells them to do.. so we can't blame them on the kissing that we think is weird because seriously, that was the director... there is a making of of the first time Tang Yi kisses SF and they shot it many times because the director didn't approve.. in the shot we see, SF looks probably too surprised... So I mean, if the director haD said: I need more passion or open your mouths or whatever the fuck... those kisses would be fucking different... That being said, after seeing those sceneS so many times, I've grown to like those kisses a lot more probably because I'm more familiar with them and because I think it is their culture and that's how they shoot these things... but it was not the actors' choice because now that I know the actors, I'm sure they would not have chosen that... at least not Chris... that's for sure.

Date: 28 Jan 2021 07:30 (UTC)I do think it's a cultural thing about the kiss, even in het shows, you can see the kisses are always kind of soft, short and usually not as graphic as Western shows,at least that's what I've noticed.
OOOHHH!!The bit about the director, that's pretty cool to know.I do remember seeing somewhere that she worked really hard on this show.
