Kenny Chen unexpectedly did a one-hour instagram livestream on the evening of Thursday, March 5, 2020.
Most of it is him just conversing with his best friend, Liu Yu Fan (
duo_liuuu, private account) and shooting the shit—chatting about how busy they're going to be over the weekend, bragging about the autographed concert swag they've gotten in the past, talking about their favorite foods—but there were two standout highlights that I thought I would share with you, besides how absolutely adorable he looks in glasses.

The 2 hilarious stories about Kenny Chen from his livestream
1. The computer screen
Yu Fan told a funny story about Kenny from they were back in high school together in the same homeroom class. One day, they were throwing around a sticky suction cup ball, and Kenny chucked it at one of the computer screens in class. It cracked the screen in a circular pattern.
Not wanting to get in trouble with their teacher, who was very strict but middle-aged (and thus not so tech savvy), they hid the monitor damage by finding a wallpaper of a fist punching outward, which just happened to match the position of where crack was in the glass. They set that as the background. It took a week for the teacher to realize what had happened, finally when he went to turn off the computer and realized that the computer screen itself was broken.
This was the same teacher that gave Kenny a lot of encouragement that he teared up about in the Let's Go to Bed! interview.
2. Second-hand cakes
During Kenny's birthday party last year, he kept getting a lot of birthday cakes. First from his fans at his birthday party, and then various friends groups kept giving him cakes. He was full up on cakes, and there was no way he was going to be able to eat all of them, but he didn't just want to throw them away, because that would be wasteful.
So what did Kenny do? He took the birthday cakes that he had been given, and re-gifted them when he went to celebrate another actor's birthday. Apparently the actor was quite surprised when he opened up the cake box, to find that the cake had already been cut (because the last thing Kenny did as a birthday boy at the end of the Happy Birthday song is cut the cake). One of the actresses in attendance started laughing really hard (probably because she figured out what was going on), but Kenny still tried to pass it off as 'the cake is supposed to look like that.'
*facepalm* Kenny Chen is a child who re-gifts birthday cakes. 🤦♂️
So those are two hilarious stories from Kenny's livestream. 🤣🤣🤣
Other fun and informative tidbits:
• Unfortunately, Kenny doesn't have any upcoming projects or appearances where he'll be able to greet and interact with his fans. He has, however, given permission if you see him on the street, to approach him and say hello.
• Kenny finishes school around May/June, and supposed to do his army service sometime after that (there is a period of compulsive military service in Taiwan), but he doesn't know when yet.
• His friend had to go about 45 mins after the start of the livestream, and then Kenny was left alone with his fans. He kept saying, "Hello, hello," to his non-Chinese-speaking fans, and at some point broke out into the first few bars of Lady Gaga's Telephone (linking the epic 9-minute music video, because why the hell would I not if I have an excuse).
I think my point in sharing that tidbit is between Hyuna and Lady Gaga, my gaydar is screaming whenever I point it at Kenny.
The full video is available from somebody who recorded on their phone and posted it on Weibo, but it seems they're in the Mainland because they had to use a VPN to access Instagram, and the connection was spotty, so there a few bits where the video freezes and cuts out.
In other news, Andy Bian appears to have spilled the tea on a recent instagram post, where he turned the hashtag #女友視角 (#GirlfriendShot), a hashtag used for a girlfriend's candid shots of or with her boyfriend, into #男友視角 (#BoyfriendShot), which is, I guess, a boyfriend's candid shots of or with his boyfriend?
When this was pointed out on Instagram, he laughed and claimed it was a typo, but...I am not convinced that was likely. Original screenshots of the post also surfaced on Weibo.

Date: 7 Mar 2020 21:12 (UTC)Kenny seemed to really enjoy livestreaming his chat, apparently what happened was that he started the livestream, and his friend asked to join (I don't think even he knew that was an option), and he just hit "OK" and then they were just shooting the shit, telling stories and stuff.
They spent most of the time talking to each other, but they both interacted with the fans as well (hence the two funny stories). It was adorable. Had I known, I would have totally popped in and said something.
Next time, I hope he does with Andy Bian. It's been ages since I've seen them together and I am aching.
