Given name for Doctor Jiang?
Can someone please tell me, do we ever get a given name for Doctor Jiang? I'm using him as a side character in a completely unrelated-to-this fandom story (sorry!).

I agree that it's best to respect Taiwan's independent identity from the Mainland, but even that isn't a non-controversial opinion in Taiwan itself.
If the fans are used to watching subs that romanize his name as Jiang and not Chiang, or Zhao Zi instead of Jhao Zih (Tongyong) or Chao Tzu (Wade Giles), it's just going to be unpractical for the white folks to learn another system, you get my drift?
If you want to use Wade Giles or Tongyong, nobody here is going to stop you, but don't ask other fans to use your pinyin scheme because one is more right or wrong, in your opinion.
If you want to discuss the politics and practicalities of romanization somewhere else, I am game, but I don't want to shame fans here for using Pinyin, which has, incidentally, been adopted officially by Taiwan for 11 years.

Incidentally, his name also isn't hard to find, it's in the ending credits.
If the props have his name down using Tongyong, and the official English subtitles lean more toward Hanyu pinyin, guess what, both are valid romanization schemes.
The discussion on romanization is ending here. This community does not tolerate anybody attacking or undermining other fans for using a perfectly valid romanization system. Consider this a warning. If you would like to start contributing to this community in a positive manner, you may start at the introduction post.

I do want to say that I was trying to contribute in a positive way by posting the screenshot. I guess that didn't work.

As a naturally kinda-abrasive person myself I have a bit of experience with that. I'd be happy to offer suggestions on how to better integrate yourself into a group of people without arguing yourself into a corner (or right out the door). If you're interested in learning better ways to make your point without alienating people, I could offer suggestions if you're interested.
