Trapped Japanese trailer and DVD release

I just watched the Japanese 'trailer' for Trapped, and I gotta say, I love how intense the beats and pacing are.

The Japanese DVD is also going up for sale on March 14, on White Day. Chris Wu himself will be there at an event, the details of which will be announced only to those who pre-register, so if you live in Japan (they will not accept overseas addresses), this is your chance!

The DVD itself is a four-disc set, comes with an hour of bonus "making of" footage, a 50-page photobook, and a random trading card of a four-card set. (This is how Japan gets you.) The total cost of the set is 18,000 yen (about $170 USD, which is pretty par for the course for Japanese prices); you can buy it here.

I have zero income right now and I would absolutely pay $170 for an English subbed DVD and I'd find a way to play whatever region it was, damn it.

The Taiwanese DVDs apparently do have English subs, though according to YesAsia.com they are region-locked. They're much cheaper too, at just $34.

Physical copies of the novelization and photobook are also available.

Really? REALLY???? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! I can and will find someone to help me hack my player--I just couldn't find confirmation that the Taiwanese ones were subbed!!! This is amazing news oh my gosh thank you!

You're welcome! I have unfortunately had to refrain from getting them because I don't have a DVD player (I've just got a Playstation 3 and 4, so I'm pretty much stuck with Blu Ray.) I'm confused as to why they aren't releasing in HD (maybe Blu Ray doesn't have a high penetration in Asia?), but I'm glad that you can pick it up!

Ooh, is it only 1 photobook? not 2 separate ones for the ships, but a photobook that has all relevant characters?

Yes, there's only one photobook for the entire series with all the relevant characters in it. There's much more TangFei than LiKe in it, which is tragic for LiKe stans like us, but it's better than nothing at all.

(And hey, we get Andy and Kenny together in real life, which more than makes up for it!)

Wow, that's quite an intense trailer! And it's super cool that it's been popular enough in Japan for a dvd release and a fan event.

LINE is actually a Japanese company, so it doesn't surprise me that they've been heavily promoting the HIStory series. Even though BL as a term and it's popularity in manga format has its origins heavily in Japan, there appears to be very little way in the way of live action TV made in this genre in Japanese, so I guess Japanese BL fans have to took to other countries' media to get their fix?

Either way, I think it's cute that Chris is going!
