I'm really sad I wasn't a part of this group when Trapped was airing, but there have been some recent events with some of the cast members that you guys may not know about if you don't follow the fandom much anymore.

On the 1st April this year, Chris and Jake met by chance at a movie theatre:

You can read their IG posts about it (translated) here. They apparently went out for dinner afterwards.

Since then there has been a steady stream of back and forth comments on each others IG posts, all very sweet <3

On 1 September, they appeared on 完全娛樂’s 26th anniversary program. Link.

Afterwards, they did an IG live chat! They just seem so happy to be chatting with each other, and Jake looks great with long hair.

Lastly, on the 9 August, Kenny posted a pic of him and Andy on IG and Facebook:

Hi all!

I've been showing H3T to a friend, who is loving it--we finished episode 3 on the weekend.

Sometimes she asks me questions, to clarify the plot etc., and I've been able to answer them so far. But there are a couple of things I expect she's going to ask me about after we're done that I could use some help on...

1) Who kidnapped them in the van?
I re-read joatamon's (priceless!) timeline, and it doesn't seem like we ever get to hear exactly who was behind the initial van-kidnapping of TY and MSF. I think I generally assumed it was Chen Wen Hao, because of one of the henchmen in the van saying something like "the Boss" wants to see them. (Though I suppose if it was the remnant of Wang Kun Chen's people, they could have been instructed to take Tang Yi to that gang's new "boss".)

2) What kind of prison sentence do we think Tang Yi is looking at?
Given that Tang Yi ends up out on bail/under house arrest and gets to take himself to prison, I assume it's not a crime like murder (the murder of Wang Kun Chen, which is implied to have been done by Jack at Tang Yi's order, to draw Chen Wen Hao back from Cambodia).

So I assume it would have to be something like assault and kidnapping? (the beating/menacing of Zhou Guan Zhi? The offscreen captivity of He Hang?) I doubt Meng Shao Fei prosecuted Tang Yi for the accidental shooting. :D And Jack's info he handed over to Interpol about Hsin-Tien Group I assume would involve the defiant members who were still moving drugs, whereas Tang Yi has gone legit.

Anyway, I've never seen the novelization or similar things myself, but I remember someone mentioning the length of Tang Yi's sentence being in one of those quasi-canon projects somewhere. What was it?

Thanks for any thoughts you may have! I think she'll especially ask me about Interpol, Jack's role in the whole thing, and Tang Yi's prison sentence, so any ideas on those topics in particular will help me get ready! XD

Hi.. I'm new to the fandom/late to the party and I'm gonna be checking out this cool community and commenting as soon as I can. The positive thing about being late is that you have a lot of content to see.

I've written this little thing and I thought I could post it here too. I think people on AO3 didn't like it because stream of consciousness is not for everybody, so I'm not surprised and I totally get it; and well, it's not what I usually write but I've written some internal monologues for Black Sails, Teen Wolf, Eyewitness and The Red Line, so it's something that I enjoy writing from time to time. I'd like to write something with dialogue but I have a problem with the fact that they speak in Mandarin and I'm used to writing characters in the language they speak on the show, so we'll see.

It will be released on 17 July 2020. It is called "Us after" and is apparently illustrating the two epilogues in the novelization.

Apparently Kenny Chen has quite a conundrum, and he needs everybody's help.

He is releasing a photobook with Andy Bian, and he needs our assistance to help choose the cover.

The first one is a closeup of Kenny hugging a wall, and the other two are shots of him in the bathtub. Yes, you heard me right, friends, two out of three choices for the Kenny Chen and Andy Bian upcoming photobook are him IN A BATHTUB.

I suppose this also a good time to show you the title of the book:

The title is "Staying True" in English, and in Chinese 初心 can be "true intention" or also "true feelings." (And is incredibly close in Japanese to 初恋, which means "first love.")

When is this book coming out? I have no idea. When are Kenny and Andy coming out? Likely the same date?

To preface this with a disclaimer: I'm very new to Chinese and Taiwanese dramas, so my knowledge is based on what I've picked up through fandom recently. However, I want to understand more, hence my asking questions! Please excuse any mistakes I make in asking!

Is there a difference in how characters refer to each other in Chinese and Taiwanese shows?

In most of the shows I've watched so far, characters refer to each other by either their full names or by honorifics until they reach a certain level of familiarity. However, according to the subtitles on Viki, several of the characters use shortened versions of names. Ah-Fei is common, as is Ah-De, even between characters that don't seem to have a particular level of closeness.

Is this abbreviated form used in a more casual way in Taiwan, or is it because I'm misunderstanding its use, or is it just poor subtitling?

Does anyone have a resource of how the characters refer to each other?

It's time for all of us to come together and discuss our favorite pouty fox, Andy!

All we know about him is that he's the owner of a bar and club that Tang Yi frequents, he's one of Tang Yi's closest friends, he's got a boyfriend (who is apparently even closer to Tang Yi than he is), and he and Tang Yi might have had a thing going back in the day.

He's also not going to refuse an opportunity to one-up Meng Shao Fei whenever possible.

There's not much that is ever verified in canon, but there sure can be a lot of speculation! ( Some thoughts and images, to get you in the mood to share your headcanons. )

He's a great narrative foil for MSF to realize that he does have a crush on TY and that he is, maybe, a little jealous, but there could be much more to Andy's character that we never get to explore.

Who is he? How did he and Tang Yi meet? How long have they known each other?

Andy's character is wide open for exploration in fandom, so let's get talking!

Photobook, Novel, and Taiwanese DVDs

I finally broke down and ordered the Trapped Taiwanese DVDs, Photobook, and Novelization from YesAsia.com.

It takes forever to ship to Europe, but after seeing rumors that there's been some serious shake-ups around LINE TV, CHOCO TV, indicating that the entire HIStory franchise is in jeopardy, I'm glad I picked up the physical copies while I did!

The photobook is 200+ pages and printed on thick paper in very nice quality, so nothing beats being able to see it in real life retinal resolution even though it's also available on Google Play Books.

The novelization has a delightful alternate cover that's the flip side of the jacket, which is perfect for a Jack/Zhao Zi stan like me. (Alternate cover not available on Google Play Books version.)

And the DVD is just 2 discs, but comes with four postcards (is it a travesty that Jack and Zhao Zi are only one of them? yes, it is).
