hello hello! alas, i never managed to wrap my head around the plot so i can't help with the first question, but re: the second... the novelization epilogue does this vague thing of "N years later" so the comm has come up with something like a 3-year consensus (thanks to assumed cooperation with the DA equivalent and with good behavior, heh) - but i'm afraid there is nothing definitive in the canon as is.
